Host a Child Program

The idea of hosting a child from a different country is exciting, yet is at the same time, many parents have doubts about whether they can really handle the challenges of inviting a child to stay with their family for a couple of weeks. They wonder about communicating with the child because, after all, the child does not speak or understand English. Parents wonder if the child will like them and their family. They imagine that all kinds of crises could occur and that they would be left to handle them on their own. What if the family and child form a close relationship - how with they ever say goodbye? And finally, parents who are hoping to adopt their hosted child wonder if the agency sponsoring the hosting program will be able to guide them through the complexities of international adoption.

As you work with your Hosting Coordinator to prepare for the Hosting Program, all of these questions will be answered. You will learn about the children who are waiting to come to the United States for the hosting experience and about what it takes to become a host family. We provide information about the project and about our experienced and professional staff and volunteers. You will also learn about how you and others can help build the Host a Child Project so that many more children will be able to participate in this once in a lifetime experience.
